STUDYING WITH MUSIC
When we have an important task such as preparing for an exam, music becomes for many the most powerful tool for regaining concentration, isolating ourselves from the world and focusing on our goals. To start with, you need to work out which songs stimulate your concentration. Assess which songs and genres stimulate you most while you are studying. We have interviewed some freshmen of our school, who helped us understand what musc is better when studying.
It is advisable to avoid your favourite songs because you will end up distracted and spend more time singing them than studying. One advantage would be to not listen to Italian songs, so you won't have the problem of concentrating on the words of the songs compared to the ones you have to study.
Experiment with different languages so that they are no longer a distraction but a stimulus. To help you in your search for the right music, if you are not already doing so, I recommend using Spotify. Among the various playlists dedicated to studying, you will have found several that you like, but you may not know that some are more suitable for a particular discipline.
Listening to the same songs over and over again may bore you and therefore make listening to music while studying counterproductive. For example: one playlist for when you are studying, another when you have to develop projects or, depending on what you are studying, different playlists with genres that stimulate and focus you the most.
Mozart Effect: popularized by a 1993 study in which researchers analyzed students listening to classical music before some tests. The researchers found that the students performed better when answering questions after listening to classical music. Classic music makes you more relaxed and less nervous and able to tackle your task with confidence. It is almost like a kind of meditation, it can even make someone more empathetic and emotionally intelligent, because their body and mind is at peace.
These are some playlists used by us when we that we advise you to use! Some are classical music, jazz, instrumental, indie.
