Career and Technical Education (CTE) Advisory Committees are composed of business and industry partners, post-secondary representatives, community members, and school faculty who are involved in decisions related to the implementation, improvement, and evaluation of CTE programs. These committees advise on the design, development operation, evaluation and revision of CTE programs through the use of industry trends, workplace knowledge, and other resources. CTE Advisory Committees operate in accordance with the state and federal laws related to Carl D. Perkins and provided local guidance by LHISD CTE Administration.
The committee will perform four main functions for the CTE programs: Advise, Assist, Support, and Advocate. Specifically:
Provide information which will update, modify, expand, and strengthen the quality of programs.
Strengthen partnerships between business, the labor community, and education.
Recommend opportunities to strengthen and expand the CTE curriculum and provide assistance in implementing those recommendations.
Provide relevant information on current trends in business and industry.
Recommend facility and equipment modifications and updates.
Ensure the learning environment is safe and adheres to industry safety guidelines.
Evaluate programs yearly: sequences of courses, equipment, and facilities.
LHISD Advisory Committees will meet at least twice a year, once in the fall semester and once in the spring semester.
