Here are the roles that the nervous system takes care of
Role #1 How the Brain receives Info
What it does
The brain is one part of the nervous system, and what your brain does is when you want to go somewhere or when you want to touch something.
How it does it
When you want to move your hand or any part of your body it sends a message through your body, up your spinal cord, and then into your brain. Or whenever you think your brain just does it because it’s itself sending a message.
Why it's important
If your rain gets damaged or isn’t properly taken care of then you may start going crazy, if you don't get enough sleep you may start seeing things, the possibilities are endless.
Role #2 How it sends Info
What it does
Another part of the nervous system is the spinal cord. It’s basically your back and whenever you want to move, touch, or do anything your body sends a message to your brain that goes up your spinal cord. Then your brain starts doing it and it all takes a millisecond. It also controls your neck and head movement. Whenever you’re about to get hurt or something bad is going to happen your spinal cord sends an emergency reflex, and your body does that without even thinking about it.
How it does it
The way your body sends a message to your brain is by going up your spine. Your spinal cord is co-operating your body together. Without your brain or spinal cord then you’d just look like a zombie, not knowing what to do or how to control your speech. If you ever touch a hot stove or something that will hurt you if you touch it your body makes a instant reaction, called a reflex.
Why it's important
Whenever you do a fire drill at your school they always ask you to put your hands over the back of your neck. The reason for that is because that’s where your spinal cord and your brain connect and if that gets damaged then you could die. But in other cases if you get hit by something small and you weren’t protecting it then you could have some brain damage and multiple side effects. If you break your neck then you should go to a doctor but it will take a long time to heal, and you’ll have to wear a cast.
Role #3 Controlling Senses
What it does
Senses are things you use to be able to hear, taste, smell, and feel and to see. The first one is hearing the way you use it is by using your ear and you can hear all sorts of thing with it, such as music and hearing people talk. The second one is taste and the way you use that one is with your tongue it has 4 types of flavor tasting like sour and salty on the sides, sweet on the front and bitter at the back. Now the smell this one you use with your nose, like smelling food smelling if you're in danger in a fire. and many things. Lastly touch, you use this one to feel things around you and to feel pain and other things, but this one you use your skin any part of your skin should be able to feel things.
How it does it
The brain is always controlling the senses if you think about it. You can always hear thing, you can always smell things, you can always taste things too. The brain is always working even when you're sleeping. If you have a dream while sleeping you can hear something. If you're not dreaming your ears rest or get 'turned off' so then nothing wakes up you. The way your tongue tastes things or feels things is by the taste buds they're the little 'bumps' on your tongue. The way your ear hears is by the ear drums and the way you touch things is by the skin but you also feel things with your hands.
Why it's important
The reason for why it's so important to keep your senses in good shape is because if you don't then you could go deaf, go blind, lose your smell, lost feeling, and lose taste. The way you can keep those things from happening if by keeping them away from the things that would damage them. Like for the ear, keep them away from loud places and don't put the volume too high up. But as you get older even if you take care of them you will start to lose them. For sight don't go to close to the tv or screen, and don't wear someones glasses that aren't made for you. For taste and smell, there are different type of viruses that affect that so just try to stay healthy for that. For touch it may be from numbness, or you got hurt badly.
Role #4 Doing the request
What it does
Once the body sends a message to the brain to move or do something, it either accepts it or not. But if it accepts it then the body will do what it asked to do. Like if your body asks to walk then in a millisecond it will accept or not, then you will start to move. But for other things like breathing or making you heart beat that is put on ‘automatic’ so then it keeps going all day even when you’re sleeping. The brain keeps the body working all day and it keeps you from hurting your self or it keeps you from dying.
How it does it
When the body keeps the body working it takes a lot of energy and that’s why it need to rest and the only time it does that is when sleeping or when you take a nap. But when it isn't getting rest it's constantly working. Even when you’re not doing anything like walking its still working, for example it keeps your heart beating and keeps you breathing. So that's why it’s good to rest your brain and take breaks.
Why it's important
If you don't rest your brain or teach it bh learning then it will go brain dead. For example you could collapse, or you could fall asleep. You could also have problems talking or communicating. As for not learning you will probably have trouble talking, reading, or even doing regular things around the house. For sleep deprivation it could lead to your memory not working well, and your sight will be affected badly too. It can also lower your immune system, the immune system is in charge of fighting bacteria and other diseases. So if that gets damaged then you could get sick
