Reading fluently leads to better outcomes in comprehension of read material across all areas of academics. Fluency includes not only rate and accuracy, but also expression when reading. Some students may do better with silent reading fluency that with oral reading fluency and vice versa; this should be considered if a student is struggling to read aloud or if they are struggling with comprehension.
