Community Through Crisis: Building Programs to Center Queer Joy
June Scafiro, Grace Davis, & Lindsay March
Among incendiary rhetoric, a hostile legislative landscape, and a seemingly daily onslaught on civil rights, queer and trans individuals-students and professionals alike-find themselves under the microscope more and more frequently. The need for joy within community has never been greater, especially for those who find themselves at the intersecting margins of society. Through taking a critical and self-reflective lens, programmatic elements that both center joy and build resilience as a trait can be created to center joy through crisis.

How Nonbinary Students Are Changing the Nature of Gender
Dr. Genny Beemyn

The Decision-Making Factors for LGBTQIA+ Students in Selecting Campus Housing
Dr. Genny Beemyn & Tyler Bradley
Learn about an ACPA CGSI-sponsored study that examined why LGBTQIA+ students choose to live where they do on a specific college campus. Studies have examined the importance of GIH and LLCs, but little research has examined the broader picture of how LGBTQIA+ students prioritize their needs in deciding on campus housing. This study sheds light on the advantages and drawbacks of these types of housing to help better understand how departments can create environments that best serve their needs.
