Join the Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals for a transformative conversation about the future of LGBTQIA2S+ communities in higher education. We will share better, best, and promising practices. We will focus on community building and innovative strategies to address increasingly hostile climates for LGBTQIA2S+ people on campus. Together, we will imagine new possibilities for creating more just campus communities.
Registration for the Pre-Convention Workshop is a part of the ACPA registration process. More information can be located here. There is a $75 registration fee.
When we announced our ACPA engagement last year we shared that to off-set the cost of attendance, we would reimburse members 50% of this fee. We have allocated up to $1,000 for this. Reimbursements will be issued on a first-come/first-serve basis until the funds are depleted. To request reimbursement, please complete this form. Reimbursements will be issued in March 2024.
Have stickers? Buttons for days? Highlighters to spare? Please consider participating in our swag swap!

1:20 - 2:00
Jesse Beal, Roman Christiaens, and Dr. Kristopher Oliveira; Moderated by Zach Parker
Join the directors of the Consortium as they discuss the opportunities and challenges of leading a QT justice-based organization in our current political moment. The directors will answer questions posed by our esteemed moderator, Zach Parker, about the political pressures on QT justice work in higher education, about being (and having) "difficult conversations", and about causing all sorts of mayhem on behalf of our communities. They will discuss the Consortium Member Needs Assessment, how the Consortium is addressing the myriad challenges, and what each of us can do to create more just (or just plain livable) campuses. Q&A to follow the initial conversation.

Dr. Sarah Simi Cohen and Dr. Jeff Maliskey
This session will engage in a regional and national conversation about the broader socio-political climate and its effects on our respective institutions, spaces, and work experiences in higher education. Individuals will leave with both tangible and tactical strategies for coalition-building.

They will share results form the Consortium Member Needs Assessment and discuss how higher education leadership must show up, bravely and unapologetically, and push back on the threats to our collective work.
4:50 - 5:00
Day Two

Dr. Andrew Herridge and Lorant Peeler
9:00 - 10:00
Fawn Pochel, Quortne Hutchings, and Tristan "TK" Morton; Moderated by Roman Christiaens
The spirit of freedom dreaming and worldbuilding is captured by the words of historian Robin D.G. Kelley: “without new visions we don’t know what to build, only what to knock down.” In times of real challenge and threats to our work, this panel invites conversation between scholar/practitioner/activists who are engaging in liberatory frameworks in their praxis and their work. Panelists will discuss concepts, insights and strategies for how LGBT resource professionals can envision worlds of queer and trans joy, authenticity, community and liberation.
