The district is coordinating with RSC Architects, Legacy Construction Management, Inc., and Dobco Group to ensure that the project is done carefully, professionally and in accordance with all guidelines, as well as with concern for all who live and work in the area. We are pleased to report that the first phase of construction is right on schedule. 

Here are the updates as of 7/30/26:

• Work will take place on the site between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday 

• It would be impossible to eliminate all disruptions caused by a project of this scope, but the district is committed to minimizing them, as much as possible 

• Groundbreaking took place on Saturday, May 31 (photos available here) 

• Topping Off took place on Friday, Jan. 16 (photos available here) 

• Members of the Board of Education and district administration went on a Walk-Through to observe progress on Wednesday, May 13 (photos available here)

• Construction of Liberty Middle School is about 50% complete (as of 5/13/26)

• Structural steel framing is complete, including columns, beams, and metal decking. 

• Metal panels, window frames, and panel insulation are being installed.

• Plumbing, electrical piping, and HVAC ducts on floors 2 and 3 are being installed.

• HVAC and electrical system rough-ins are underway.

• Slab-on-grade construction is complete, with ongoing site grading.  

• Preparations are underway for the walkway alongside the retaining wall at the rear of the site.   

• Crane-assisted steel placement and framing alignment are complete.  

• The footings and foundation concrete have been poured; waterproofing has been applied.    

• Concrete block is being installed at the base of the building; Interior concrete block installation on ground floor is completed; Interior concrete block is being installed on floors 2 and 3 and Stair D (outside the gymnasium). 

• Concrete steps have been poured at the rear of the building. 

• Storm drainage and manhole installation are complete.    

• Underground piping installation is complete.    

• Underground electrical conduits have been installed; permanent power installation is nearly complete.    

• Exterior brick veneer placement is underway. 

• Concrete treads and landings in Stair C (in the rear, right side of the building) have been poured. 

• Shaft installation for Stair B (outside the cafeteria) is complete.

• Steel installation for Stair D (outside the gymnasium) is underway.

• Interior classrooms, media center, cafeteria, and gymnasium are taking shape. 

• Construction of the rooftop play area is underway. 

• Spray fireproofing application and vapor barrier/waterproofing installation is underway. 

• Door frame installation is underway. 

• Interior plumbing and electrical rough-ins are underway. 

• Mechanical piping and hanger installation, and ductwork are underway. 

• Roof blocking and exterior sheathing installation is underway. 

• Main roofing installation is underway. 

• Access hatch opening for the upper roof has been installed; skylight for central staircase has been installed. 

• First floor walls and cafeteria ceiling painting is underway.

The following items will continue to be installed over the next phase of construction: 

• Vapor barrier 

• Exterior concrete blocks, grout, and brick veneer 

• Electrical wires, boxes, conduits and panels

• Plumbing lines and drain pipes
