Liberty Middle School Construction Progress is 25% Complete!
Activity on the site will take place between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. It would be impossible to eliminate all disruptions caused by a project of this scope, but we are committed to minimizing them, whenever possible.
With the new home assessment data, the owner of a home assessed at the Little Ferry average of $422,221 can expect to see an estimated monthly tax increase of $41.
Originally, the referendum was expected to increase school debt tax for the owner of a home assessed at the Little Ferry average of $375,501 by an estimated $50 per month.
Thanks to the dedication of our Board of Education, administration and local legislators, an additional $5 million toward this project was secured, which reduced the amount that was bonded. A borrowing rate of 3.93% was secured by the district’s financial advisors. That was below the 4.1% estimated rate.
If your home is assessed lower or higher than the borough average, here’s a chart to help calculate your estimated tax impact:
A portion of the additional funding received in summer 2025 has been used to further offset the referendum tax burden for Little Ferry residents.
The owner of a home assessed at the Little Ferry average ($422,221) can expect to see a school debt tax increase of $200, rather than $490, for this fiscal year (July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026).
Activity to prepare the site began in April 2025, and will continue until the Groundbreaking Ceremony, planned for late May or early June. Construction activity will ramp up in summer 2025, as the building begins to take shape.
As updates become available, we will post them on this site, social media, and share them with local media outlets.
The district anticipates that the new middle school will be ready to open in 2027.
