Student development day - 18th October
Year 1 students
The aim is for students to start the process of planning for their future career progression.
Students will be working from home to give them time and space to start exploring opportunities, gather experience in their areas of interest and catch up on any outstanding work.

Students should make the most of this opportunity. Any activities completed can be used as evidence for future applications to universities and apprenticeships.
Year 2 students
The aim for Year 2 students will be to finalise UCAS personal statement or exploring university open days and apprenticeship applications.
For this day students will be working from home to give them time and space to start exploring career opportunities, gather experience in their areas of interest and catch up on any outstanding work.
UNIFROG, our online careers platform, helps students successfully apply for university and apprenticeships by supporting them to write their personal statement, apprenticeship applications and CVs.
Students are expected to use this time to complete the following IMPORTANT TASKS:
Have their final draft of your UCAS Personal Statement ready
Finalise the UCAS application form
Continue researching apprenticeships and updating their CVs.
Catch up on any outstanding work across their programme of study
Researching open days

UCAS TOP TEN TIPS
Start research early – there are a lot of higher education options to choose from!
Register in the UCAS Hub and browse through courses – so they can work out what they would enjoy or be interested in.
Know the deadlines – for some courses, the application deadline is almost a year in advance of when the course starts.
Go to UCAS events and course provider open days – speak to us and higher education staff to get answers to their questions.
Check entry requirements – make sure they can get the grades they need to get a place on a course.
Redraft their personal statement – get plenty of feedback and refine it until they’re happy.
Understand student finance – so they can make the best arrangements to fund their studies.
Be prepared for results day – make sure they’re prepared for all the possible outcomes.
Understand how Extra and Clearing work – different ways to apply for more courses.
