Since leaving Leyton Sixth Form College:

I went straight into my apprenticeship AAT Foundation to Professional with HSNO. The training provider is Kaplan.

What have you learnt?

To be independent. You have to take and fulfil your responsibilities. Also to maximize time and adapt to new environments.

Any advice for current Leyton Sixth Form students?

Keep your options open. University isn’t the only way to pursue higher education. Apprenticeship gives you experience, a degree and no debts!

Hoping to successfully finish my first year and to progress onto the next level.

Meet

Prerna

Studied: Psychology, Communication and Culture and Chemistry.

Since leaving Leyton Sixth Form College:

I am doing a Level 3 Business Services Apprenticeship with KPMG. I can progress to a degree qualification after. The training provider is BPP.

My first rotation is in Business Support with includes providing admin support to employees across the firm, ranging in a variety of employees from directors to workers.

Any advice for current Leyton Sixth Form students?

My advice is if you’re not sure what you want to do (like me), do an apprenticeship in something which you may be interested in. You can kickstart your career by doing an apprenticeship where you can get a qualification and hands on experience whilst earning a salary.

What are you hoping to do over the next years?

Over the next year I hope to complete my qualification. I would like to work within Resourcing. I also want to do as many activities as I can to contribute back to my community and I am confident KPMG will support me in achieving this.

Nashieka

Studied: Biology, Geography, and Psychology.

Since leaving Leyton Sixth Form College:

I am at University studying Geography.

What level?

BSc.

What University?

Queen Mary University of London.

What have you learnt?

College taught me a lot about having to balance life. You have to make time for family, education, a job (maybe) and your own social life. College is a lot harder than everyone deems it to be, but going through it has really taught me a lot about being able to make time for everything.

Any advice for current Leyton Sixth Form students?

Make sure you don’t let this virus dictate your education! Keep on top of your work to the best of your ability but don’t forget to look after yourself as well.

What are you hoping to do over the next year?

Complete my first year of university successfully and then I hope to also get a new job 😊
