5th Grade Specific Activities
Small Groups
There will be therapeutic small groups this year about self confidence skills.
We will have a two journaling groups and a fitness group. Space is limited in both of these groups.
We will have students help decorate the 5th grade fish tank and decorate the 5th grade display affirmation signs. They get to take ownership of the counseling suite for different seasons.

Guidance Lesson Plan
September:
Meet the Counselor: Students will complete an escape room that allows them to learn more about the school counselor's role and how to access their school counselor as needed.
October:
Helpful Self Talk: We will discuss the power of self talk. Then, coping skills will be provided.
November:
We will provide a chance for career exploration through BINGO and Career Week.
January:
Assertiveness: We will work on communication styles and skills.
February:
We will discuss wellness and set SMART goals.
March:
Healthy Friendships: We will discuss healthy and unhealthy traits in a friendship. We will talk through actions for what to do in unhealthy friendships.
April:
Stress Management: We will focus on skills that help us manage our big stressors. These stressor look different for each student, yet they can all benefit from the skills we will learn.
