Course Description:
Welcome to The Art of Interior Design 2! Interior Design 2 focuses on understanding the world of work in the housing and interiors industry. Students will investigate such topics as career development; design fundamentals, backgrounds and furnishings; architecture and design; housing decisions; and presentation skills. These activities are both contextual and authentic. This course is designed to further develop a student’s technical knowledge and skills in interior design. Prerequisite for this course is Visual Art Foundations & Interior Design 1.

Instructional Goals:
This is a CP level course for .5 credit. All students going to a four year college in South Carolina must receive one full level Fine Arts Credit. The Fine Arts credit can include: Visual Art, Band, Chorus, Orchestra, Dance or Theatre.

1st Quarter
-Unit One: Reintroduction to Interior Design

Course Objectives and Goals:
The primary goal of this course is to help students become proficient in spatial and aesthetic concerns of Interior Design such as space planning, lighting, materials, color theory, furnishings, and more.
The Objects for this course:
Students will keep a “Look Book” idea file in the form of a sketchbook or journal.
Students will engage in meaningful and thoughtful classroom discussions.
Students will design a proposed residential space with a given set of technical and conceptual concerns.
Students will create a set of presentation boards depicting drawings, floor plans, elevations, materials, and furniture.
