The seventh grade science curriculum is primarily focused on life science topics. Students are immersed in learning about the Characteristics of Living Things, the Cell & Cell Processes, the Human Body, Genetics, Evolution, and Ecology. While engaged in laboratory experiences students learn how to use various tools in science such as the microscope and selected dissection equipment. Students participate in various project-based experiences in this course that integrate many other topics in science such as marine science, bioengineering, and climate science.
In this science course students have many opportunities to engage in laboratory experiences, inquiry-based activities, and problem solving tasks throughout the year. Students have many experiences where they begin to build their critical thinking, consistently use the science practice skills, and continue to develop a knowledge and curiosity for the world in which they live.
