Each year, students are scheduled in small group developmental seminars with their counselors. In addition to fostering effective relationships between students and counselors, these seminars provide interactive dialogue and information on adjusting to Lexington High School, academic/career/social-emotional exploration and post-secondary planning. September-October - 9th Grade Counselor Seminars: In seminars, students meet with their school counselor, in small groups, to focus on transition and orientation to high school. Topics discussed and information provided include, academic and social adjustment and school support and resources.
February-March - Course recommendation and request process for next year's courses. Students receive information via their teachers and email.
March - Academic Advising Meetings: School counselors meet individually with 9th graders about appropriate course choices and the importance of the right level of academic rigor and a balanced schedule for each student. Students receive information regarding these meetings via their school counselor.
October - PSAT Administration (The PSAT is an optional test. It was designed to be a beginning-of-the-year test for juniors.)
October-November - AP exam registration. Students taking AP courses may speak with their teachers about taking the AP exam.
December - PSAT Scores Available

January - College Admissions Testing Presentation: A Roadmap for the SAT, ACT, and Other Tests
February-March - Course recommendation and request process for next year's courses. Students receive information via their teachers and email.

May: Advanced Placement (AP) exams are given each May at LHS.
September-November - College Admissions Representatives visit LHS: College admissions representatives offer virtual information sessions that occur after school.
October - PSAT Administration: 11th Graders can choose to take the PSAT test, which is a practice test for the SAT college admission test. Information regarding test details and dates will be emailed to parents and announced in homerooms . Students register for the PSAT Test at LHS and details regarding cost and registration dates will be sent via email at the beginning of the school year.
October-November - AP exam registration. Students taking AP courses may speak with their teachers about taking the AP exam.
December - PSAT Scores Available: 11th Graders who took the PSAT Test receive their results directly from College Board through electronic submission. Students can make an appointment to meet with their school counselor to gain a better understanding of their score report.

January-August - Standardized Testing: 11th Graders can choose to take the SAT and/or the ACT. Students can work with their school counselors to help determine the type of tests to take and a testing schedule.
February-September - Students may choose to visit colleges they are interested in applying to.

February-May - Individual Appointments with Counselor: 11th Graders can request to meet individually with their school counselors to review and discuss their post-graduation planning.
March - Academic Advising Meetings. Students receive information regarding these meetings via their school counselor.
April/May - Boston National College Fair
May-June - Speak with two teachers about letters of recommendation: 11th Graders can ask one or two different teachers to agree to write a Letter of Recommendation for college applications.
May - Advanced Placement (AP) exams are given each May at LHS.
August - December - Standardized Testing: 12th Graders may choose to take the SAT and/or the ACT. ELL students should consider taking the TOEFL, a college admissions test for all students applying to college for whom English is not their first language. Students can work with their school counselors to help determine the type of tests to take and a testing schedule.
September - FutureFest: Senior Edition is a half-day, in-school workshop experience for 12th Graders. Workshop topics may include: college essays and supplements, financial aid, Common Application, skilled trades, visual art portfolio, performing art portfolio, college interviews, self-care, among others.
September/October - 12th Grade parents/guardians/caretakers receive information regarding planning for after high school.
September-June – School Counselor Meetings: 12th Graders can meet with their school counselors individually about planning for after high school.
September-November - College Admissions Representatives visit LHS: College admissions representatives offer virtual information sessions that occur after school.
October-November - AP exam registration. Students taking AP courses may speak with their teachers about taking the AP exam.
October – March: Complete financial aid and scholarship applications.
October - Financial Aid Night: 12th Graders and their parents/guardians attend Financial Aid Night to get information from a MEFA representative on financial aid forms, timeline, and process.
November – First Quarter Grades: 12th Graders’ first quarter grades will automatically be sent to the colleges for which a transcript request was submitted.
January – Second Quarter Grades: 12th Graders’ second quarter grades (mid-year grades) and updated GPA will automatically be sent to the colleges for which a transcript request was submitted.
May 1st - the National College Decision Day, the universal deadline by which you need to submit a deposit to the ONE school which you plan to attend. Although May 1 is still the date that many colleges use for their decision day, some colleges may have extended deadlines. Students should make sure they are aware of the deadline for the college they choose to attend.
May - Advanced Placement (AP) exams are given each May at LHS.
May/June - 12th Grade Exit Survey: 12th Graders complete a required survey in Scoir letting LHS know where to send a final transcript to the college they will attend.
