Ramadan is about giving and peace and getting together. I love presents and so does Yasmeen! -Eli

I like the 'Night of the Moon.' I learned that Islam is a religion based on the Quran and its teachings. -Artem

My favorite part was the feast for the night of the new moon. Yasmeen and I look forward to parties and presents!

-Evelyn

It's about a little girl and her family celebrating Ramadan. The only time they can eat is before sunrise and after sunset. -Livy

We would like to thank you for this wonderful idea to share our differences. We are Muslims and feel that the community may like to know a little about our celebrations.

-Seem (Jude's mom)

I liked the day before Eid because they shared stuff. I liked the trampoline because you can bounce high in the air. I like the dinner that they had with their cousin Humza. It reminds me of Christmas, the three Kings and parties with friends and family that we celebrate. I think fasting is hard. -Lucia

We celebrate Ramadan. We are Muslims. We learned about Ramadan and that they go to the mosque. We learned about the cycle of the moon in the Arabic calendar.

I liked the trampoline and Eid Mubarak.

It's cool to fast and it's fun to go to the mosque.

-Rayan

I made a connection with the book because I have had to fast (for medical reasons) and it was hard. Also, I have gotten gifts for Christmas and Chinese New Year. Also, both Jewish and Chinese holidays I celebrate are on a lunar calendar. I learned that a full moon means Ramadan is half over (it starts on a new moon). The henna hand painting was my favorite part of the book.

-Isaac

I like to watch the moon . I watch the moon grow bigger to see how much we ate. I like how they prayed. I learned it is a thin line, then bigger until it disappears.

-Jude

My aunt is Muslim and she does henna for me and my older sister. My mom is Indian and we both have bangles.

-Shereen

I liked the part when Yasmeen got henna paste. I learned that Yasmeen looked at the moon every day. She went to a party. I like the moon just like Yasmeen. I celebrate Ramadan at home.

-Layla

We celebrate Ramadan at home and it was nice to read about similar traditions and fasting.

-Nadine (Layla's mom)

I love the Eid. They had decorations, a party and got new clothes! -Samantha

I liked the page with the trampoline on it. The page with the big party reminds me of a Diwali party I go to. I liked the page with the big present. It reminds me of Christmas. -Aasha

Yasmeen is a girl and I am a boy; she is Muslim, I am Christian. Our connection is because we are both children, both alive and we both like the moon and celebrate holidays. We are both joyful, playful and all these things. -Marius
