EXCITING NEWS EARTH SCIENCE STUDENTS! A massive sunspot has been firing off X-flares and CMEs. Four coronal mass ejections may be combining into a "cannibal CME" and they are all heading to earth. According to NASA, they should begin to arrive tomorrow (5/10) at 5:00 p.m. our time. Be on the look out for possible auroras! WEEK 11 (11/14 - 11/27):
7th Grade Literature
Over the Thanksgiving break, ask five of your family or friends what their favorite book was growing up. Find out it these books are fiction or non-fiction. Ask one or two of them what they think of Shakespeare. Write down their responses and bring them to class (11/28) for a homework grade and to share. Have a great Thanksgiving!
8th Grade Earth Science
Review the tectonic plate, volcanic eruption, and volcano supplemental reading handouts (you do not need to answer the questions). Use these handouts and your research to determine for your volcano (1) which tectonic plate boundary (and the type of boundary) it is on, (2) what type of eruptions it has, and (3) what type of volcano it is. Bring these facts to class on Tuesday 11/28.
Look Ahead: Volcano Project will be due the week of 12/12.
If you have extra time over the break and want to get ahead:
Work on your volcano project.
Work on the major volcano and earthquake latitude and longitude assignments. (Use your atlas to check one or two to make sure you are doing it correctly.)
