THE WHY behind a school mentoring program

There is compelling evidence that school-based mentoring produces many positive outcomes for youth.

Recent research into school-based mentoring outcomes indicates that these programs can:

⊹ Improve the quality of class work

⊹ Increase the number of homework and in-class assignments turned in

⊹ Reduce serious school infractions, such as disciplinary referrals, fighting, and suspensions

⊹ Increase students’ perceptions of academic competence

⊹ Develops a positive attitude toward school

⊹ Builds confidence

⊹ Helps children express their feelings

⊹ Improves relationships with peers, teachers, and other school personnel
