Explore Your Future Career Options by Job Shadowing!
To schedule an APPROVED job shadow, your job shadowing form must be turned in to Ms. Cartledge or Mr. Magyar at least 3 business days prior to the scheduled job shadow.
Job Shadowing is a nationwide initiative that encourages professionals to provide students with job shadowing experiences. Did you know that our district allows ALL high school students to job shadow once a semester? You can job shadow this semester for one day, and it's excused! Thereis no better way to discover what you enjoy doing unless you experience it firsthand! This is why job shadowing is so valuable as you explore various career options. Take time to EXPLORE YOUR OPTIONS!
You are probably asking yourself...How do I begin and schedule a job shadow? The first thing to do is think about your parents, your parents' friends, relatives, your friends' parents... Would they be willing to represent their career and allow you to job shadow them at their workplace? If so, set up a day and time to job shadow.
Steps to job shadow approved/excused:
1. Complete the Parent Permission Form and give it to your career specialist at least THREE business (school) days before shadowing. You may pick a form up from Ms. Cartledge (E202), Mr. Magyar (E203), or the counseling office.
2. Once your job shadow is approved, you will pick up your job shadow packet for the job shadow. This packet includes an employer evaluation and a questionnaire for you to complete with the employer.
3. After you complete your job shadow experience, return the paperwork to Ms. Cartledge or Mr. Magyar for review within 5 days.
4. When the paperwork is completed, Ms. Cartledge or Mr. Magyar will submit your excused absence. If you do not complete all these steps, your absences will not be excused. Please allow time for the absence to be excused.
Your career specialist can only approve an absence if the process is followed.
Career Specialists can help with ideas of job shadowing, but they do not place students.
