What is a reference and how do I ask for one?
A reference is someone who can speak positively about you and your strengths and accomplishments.
A teacher, coach, mentor, club advisor, volunteer coordinator, and current supervisors can serve as a reference.
ASK EARLY! Let your reference know that you would like to use them as a reference.
If your reference needs to write a letter of recommendation, provide them a resume or brag sheet.
Ask for their email address or phone number.
