Meet your AVID Elective Teachers!
Rebecca Ussery Cagle is teaching the AVID 7 Elective Class at Carolina Springs Middle School. She began her career teaching at White Knoll Middle School (Lexington School District One) in 2002 before transferring to Carolina Springs Middle School in 2007, when the school opened its doors. Mrs. Cagle also teaches Physical Education/Health and is the Head Girls Basketball Coach for the CSMS Girls' Basketball Team. Under Mrs. Cagle and her coaching staff, the CSMS Girls' Basketball team has won 2 championships! Go Huskies! Mrs. Cagle is a graduate of the University of South Carolina (Columbia, SC) and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education. Mrs. Cagle resides in West Columbia with her husband, Paul.
Mary Anne Deal Jenkins is teaching the AVID 8 Elective Class at Carolina Springs Middle School. She began her career teaching at Palmetto High School (Anderson School District One) followed by Lexington Middle School (Lexington School District One) before finding a home at Carolina Springs in 2007, when the school open its doors. Mrs. Deal also teaches Spanish, facilitates Latin, sponsors the CSMS Jr. BETA Club, and is the Assistant Girls Basketball Coach for the CSMS Girls' Basketball Team. Mrs. Deal is a graduate of Anderson University (Anderson, SC) and the University of South Carolina (Columbia, SC). She also studied abroad at Cemanahuac Comunidad Educativa in Cuernavaca, Mexico while attending Anderson University. Mrs. Deal is heavily involved with the Junior Chamber International (JCI) and serves in various leadership capacities. In 2021, Mrs. Deal is serving JCI USA as a National Vice President assigned to oversee Chapter Development and work specifically with the states of Wisconsin, North Carolina, California, Kentucky, Arkansas, Vermont, Nevada, Connecticut, and Alaska. In 2022, Mrs. Deal will be serving as the Leadership Development Director for JCI USA. She will be able to work with the state leaders from across the country as well as design programming and training to build leaders within the organization and community. Mrs. Deal resides in Lexington with her husband, Trey Jenkins.
