NCAA Clearinghouse Info

NCAA Clearinghouse Information

The NCAA has set up minimum academic standards that any high school student-athlete must meet in order to be eligible in his or her first year of college enrollment. All athletes that are interested in participating in athletics at the Division I or Division II must register with the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse by the end of their Junior year.

Students must register with the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse on their own. NCAA Eligibility Center can be found at:

NCAA Eligibility Center

In order to meet these requirements, students must maintain a certain G.P.A, based on either their ACT or SAT scores, in a certain number of core courses (16 core courses for Div. I athletics, and for Div. II athletics). Only college prep courses are considered when determining an individual's G.P.A. English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Foreign Language courses are considered CORE COURSES by the NCAA Clearinghouse. Lastly, all SAT and ACT scores must be reported directly to the NCAA Clearinghouse directly by the testing agency - scores that appear on transcripts will not be considered.

Please check out this quick reference sheet for more information about these requirements and the breakdown of the core course rules

It is critical that students take the appropriate course work throughout their high school careers to meet these requirements. If a student-athlete has any interest in participating at the next level, they must start planing now for the future. If there are any additional questions, please stop by the athletic office for more information and to talk with Mr. Fuller about this process.

Each year, the NCAA publishes a great resource for any student called the Guide for the College-Bound Student-Athlete which can be easily downloaded as a pdf. Please check out:
