This in-depth workshop helps students understand how student loans work in Ontario, including both government and private options. It breaks down complex terms, explains repayment strategies, and shows how to avoid debt traps—all in a student-friendly way.
Students will learn:
The difference between OSAP, CSLP, and private loans (banks, credit unions)
How to qualify and apply for government student aid, including grants and loans
How to manage repayments, including interest-free grace periods and assistance plans
The risks and responsibilities of private loans, including co-signers and higher interest
Strategies to avoid default, maintain a good credit score, and handle repayment with confidence
By the end of this session, students will feel empowered to make informed borrowing decisions, access the right support, and develop smart repayment strategies to reduce long-term debt.
This workshop helps students understand, find, and apply for scholarships, bursaries, and grants—turning financial aid into real opportunity.
Participants will learn:
The difference between scholarships (based on achievement) and bursaries (based on financial need)
Where to find funding—from university sites to OSAP and external platforms
How to write strong applications with standout essays, references, and personal stories
Organizational tips for tracking deadlines and managing documents
How to break through common myths like “I need a perfect GPA”
By the end of this workshop, students will be better equipped to finance their education with less stress and more confidence, knowing where to look and how to stand out.
Career Kickstart Kit is a practical and empowering workshop designed to help youth build the skills and confidence they need to navigate the job and application process—from start to finish.
In this workshop, participants will:
Master resume writing with real examples and targeted strategies
Craft personalized cover letters that stand out
Learn how to read job postings and tailor applications to specific roles
Develop interview skills using the STAR method
Build budgeting skills to manage student and living expenses
Understand what employers are looking for, including how to pass applicant tracking systems (ATS)
Through hands-on activities, tips, and tools, this workshop prepares youth to confidently apply for jobs, internships, and post-secondary programs—while promoting self-awareness, reflection, and long-term career readiness.
