Our program addresses the barriers to post-secondary success faced by youth. These may include lack of mentorship, limited access to career exploration, low academic confidence, financial hardship, and insufficient exposure to STEM and other emerging fields. Many students also struggle to find meaningful employment opportunities during and after their studies, which impacts their ability to gain experience and build. In addition, a lack of consistent support from their broader communities often leaves students feeling isolated, disconnected, and without the networks needed to thrive. The program works to bridge the gap between education and employment while nurturing personal growth, belonging, and resilience.
Our mission is to support students in their postsecondary journey by providing different scholarships and bursaries from our community, providing skill building workshops, job opportunities and communal resources. We aim to empower students through meaningful employment, transferable skill development, and partnerships with organizations that facilitate internships and hiring pathways. To become a leading support system for post-secondary youth by bridging gaps in education, employment, and personal development. We envision a future where all students can thrive in post-secondary education, successfully transition into fulfilling careers, and grow into healthy, engaged members of inclusive and innovative learning communities.
Career Ready originated from an initial problem statement developed by Let’s Get Together: "How can we create alternative funding pathways to make higher education in Canada more financially accessible?" York University invited Let’s Get Together to participate as a community partner in the C4: Cross-Campus Capstone Classroom, an interdisciplinary course where students address real-world challenges in collaboration with external organizations. The problem statement was presented to a group of students who, over the span of 22 weeks, conducted research and developed practical solutions. Their findings revealed that many students lacked awareness of available scholarships and felt unprepared for the workforce. In response, the team created a series of skill-based workshops to enhance financial literacy and career readiness, as well as an online platform that compiles community-based scholarships and bursaries.
