On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, the Grade 11 students of Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Manila competed in Colegio's inaugural cheer dance competition, which was hosted at Salon de Actos. The competition aims to highlight the Squire's Arriba spirit and dancing talent. It is also part of the CSPEH02: Rhythmic Activity course for Grade 11 students.
The masters of the ceremony, Ms. Bea Gonzales and Ms. Therese Javier called on Ms. Edrea Mariel Sibal to discuss the competition's rules and regulations and the criteria for judging. This was followed by introducing the judges: Mr. Christian Reyes, Mr. Mike Maglaque, Ms. Monique Molina, and Mr. John Michael Ordiz.
The hosts introduced the first performers from Batch 1 of ICT11A, who performed a cheer dance-themed "Zombies," followed by Batch 1 of STEM11D's Early 2000 Pop Culture performance. Soon after, the STEM11C Batch 1 cheer-danced to Filipino songs like "Luv U" for their P-Pop-themed cheer dance. Then, STEM11E delivered a bang, bang, bang performance of their K-pop medley.
While Batch 2 of ABM11C put on their routine with Knights as the theme, Batch 1 of HE11A also danced to OPM hits. A cheer dance with a warrior theme was then requested from Batch 1 of ABM11A. Following batch 2 of STEM11B's cheer dance with a school spirit theme, batch 2 of ICT11A performed a hip-hop-themed performance. Additionally, Batch 2 of ABM11B made everyone salute as they performed their routine with a military piece.
The following performers were STEM11G's Batch 1, who performed with a Euphoria theme. STEM11B's Batch 1 then performed an enthusiastic festival-themed dance as their response. Following Batch 2 of STEM11F's impressive performance in an Olympic-themed routine, Batch 2 of ABM11A performed in a Hunger Games-themed production. On the other hand, STEM11C's Batch 2's cheer dance with an old-school groove theme had everyone bopping their heads. Then, with their Descendants-themed routine, Batch 2 of STEM11E appeared to cast a spell on the audience.
ABM11B Batch 1's energetic cheer dance with a time travel concept was swiftly followed by STEM11F Batch 1's presentation of their hip-hop-themed routine. After that, Batch 1 of STEM11A embodied their theme, "Rihanna," and the audience went wild. Batch 2 of STEM11A also showed everyone who runs the world with their women empowerment-themed routine, and finally, Batch 2 of STEM11G ended with a bang as they performed their circus-themed cheer dance.
After the entertaining cheer dances from the Grade 11 Senior Squires, the judges announced their results. SHS PE teachers Mr. Rolliezon Tagaytay and Mr. Rhayzor Catris presented the prizes to the winners. STEM11F (Batch 2) won first place. On the other hand, STEM11A (Batch 1) bagged second place, while HE11A (Batch 1) got third place.
Thus, the event finally concluded.
