Le Toque organizes Glamour de Caballero: Napkin Folding, Table Setting, and Skirting Online Workshop

SATURDAY, November 20, 2021 - As people start to experiment and try new things in their homes due to pandemic, the Letran Le Toque Club organized an online workshop entitled, “Glamour De Caballero”, circulating the basics of Napkin Folding, Table Setting, and Skirting bridging from 10 AM to 12 NN via Google Meet.
The workshop began with a brief introduction from the emcees regarding the agendas, followed by the opening remarks delivered by Ms. Reyven Cielo Gonzales, the Vice President of Le Toque Club.
As for the resource speaker, the club invited Mr. Marlon T. Andaya, who holds a degree in Doctor of Philosophy in International Hospitality and Tourism Management, a Master in Management at the University of Rizal System, and an educator/lecturer.
Mr. Marlon opened his lecture with a brief description and information regarding Napkin Folding, Table Setting, and Skirting, to which he then proceeded to show the participants a depiction of a proper table skirt. As he discussed the different types of skirting, Mr. Marlon expounded the uses and parts required to create and do a good presentation for table skirting. Later, he proceeded to teach the steps to execute table skirting in a very detailed manner after he presented of the different factors and items that will help decorate a table.
Continuing the workshop and his practical presentation, Mr. Marlon elucidated the significance of each design in different occasions and events, when, and why people should use them. In the practical presentation, he also gave out crucial tips and tricks that individuals can use to further improve the decoration of the table that they’re setting.
Thereafter, Mr. Marlon talked about tablewares and napkin folds that people can use in specific events and their different types and uses. He then added the types of table setting from various regions and proceeded to discuss each. For example, the formal and informal settings for French and Russian tables — which Mr. Marlon brought up their history and uses that were implemented even until today.
Mr. Marlon further gave an in depth lecture about table setting, as he taught the participants the right and proper placements of each tableware, their uses, and the importance of organizing tablewares. The discussion was then followed by a visual representation of the different napkin folds used in various events.
He ended his discussion by opening the floor with the Question & Answer Portion, which the participants actively participated in to fulfill their curiosities. Afterward, on behalf of the Le Toque Club, the emcees granted Mr. Marlon the Certificate of Appreciation as they formally concluded the said workshop.
