ICT Week 2023 opens with an exhibit featuring entires from the Multimedia Arts and Design Contest and the annual Tektalk seminar series

The Letran SHS TechVoc Area in partnership with the Letran SHS Creative Hub spearheaded the ribbon cutting of its Digital Poster Making and Mobile Photography exhibit and the annual tektalk series day 1 to start off the celebration of the ICT Week 2023 with a theme, “Igniting the Future: Accelerating Creative Potentials and Opportunities through ICT,” held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at the Salon de Actos and Music Room.
The celebration started with an exhibit featuring the creative works of the members of the Letran SHS Creative Hub from their snap of the week, the art of the week, and the trivia of the week segment, together with the finalist of the multimedia arts and design contest: mobile photography contest, and digital poster design contest. Grace Calderon and Adrian Litawan, event’s hosts called Mr. Christian Reyes (TechVoc Coordinator), Ms. Monique Molina (Student Development Coordinator), and Mr. Jerry Escultura (Digital Communications Technology Coordinator) to officially start off the ICT week celebration with a ribbon cutting.
In the afternoon, the annual Tektalk series commenced. with a discussion on “Fake news ba talaga o na pulitika lang?” Mr. Kobe Bryan Loterinia, the seminar's speaker, began by asking, "Ano pong ginagawa niyo sa Facebook?" Some of them responded that they utilized Facebook as a pastime and for their amusement.
Likewise, all media constitutes media messages produced for purposes, and each medium has unique characteristics, strengths, and a unique “language” of construction. People use their skills, beliefs, and experiences to construct their meanings from media messages.
“Karamihan sa mga mensahe ng media ay isinaayos upang makabuo ng kita o kapangyarihan,” he remarked before ending his discourse. Afterward, he proceeded to the second part of the seminar, which was the workshop entitled “Drawing the Lines between Facts, Fake News, & Propaganda.” He expounded on the rules and mechanics of the said workshop and highlighted that participants only have ten (10) minutes for it.
The discussion differentiated as well facts, fake news, and propaganda. The webinar concluded with a reminder from the speaker to always think before we click.
