My communication skills are most proficient with written word and oral communication methods. I frequently write recommendation letters for students seeking employment or for college entrance and scholarships. During employment searches I have written letters of interest to accompany my resume. I also have had the opportunity to create a recruiting brochures to take with us to the middle schools. Each spring the vocational teachers attempt to recruit incoming 9th graders into specific academies. The brochures I made were to inform the parents and students of what the Academy of Engineering had to offer at our school. The artifacts below were created in Microsoft Word. Composing written letters was the easiest. Designing a two-sided brochure with information and graphics that could would be a professional looking tri-fold hand out was extremely difficult. I had to provide information and make it visually appealing.

During my first semester I took ETEC524, Introduction to Educational Technology, where I was introduced to how to build a blog, which was a new form of communication for me. Within that blog I embedded a Google Slide show to use as an example of how I expected student research to be presented. Our Tech Play during this class was also documented in my blog.
This semester I am taking ETEC527 Web 2.0 Technologies for Instruction. One of the requirements for this course is to document our journey in a blog, and the professor offered the option of using an existing blog. Instead of building another blog from scratch, I decided to "add to" my original blog.
Please take a moment to click the button and read about my journey in these two classes.
OLT595 was a Research Methodology course. In this course we discovered how to appropriately research a subject and present a proposal for approval to gain the necessary support to conduct extensive research. The link above will allow you to view the research proposal I developed in this course.
Reflection
Developing this web page/e-portfolio is also a form of communication that is new to me. I never designed a web page prior to starting this journey to obtain a MEd. I also had never used Google Sites! In the beginning I spent a great deal of time watching YouTube videos on how to do almost every step in building a Google Sites web page, but now I am more confident and require less research on "how to" accomplish my tasks. In ETEC524 I also had to resort to using YouTube for instruction on building a blog. I am glad that I had the option to "add to" my original blog for the ETEC527 course I am currently taking.
