At LAB, we are excited to be offering Separate Science as an Options subject at Key Stage 4.
On this page, the Science team has sought to provide you with all the information you would need to feel confident about studying Separate Sciences at Key Stage 4.
Please note that this option is available by invitation only. However, if you have not received an invitation to study, but are extremely passionate about pursuing your interest in Science, you should still speak to your Science teacher about studying Separate Science.
If you do have any further questions which you would like answered, please do not hesitate to visit the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) page available via the drop down menu at the top of this page.

Strong qualifications in Science are useful for a huge number of exciting careers, including the following:
Robotics Engineer
Aerospace Engineer
Astronomer
Animal Trainer
Aquarist
Biochemical Engineer
Marine Biologist
Zoologist and Wildlife Biologist
Diver
Chemist
Mechanical Engineer
Pilot
Pharmacist
Veterinarian
However, many scientific companies also employ lots of people with good Science-based qualifications for more managerial and strategic positions. Whilst these people don’t get involved with the hands-on scientific activity, they still use their detailed technical knowledge to make well-informed and important decisions on everything to do with scientific projects, e.g. budgets and timescales.
Another growing area in this sector is sales. Scientific salesmen use their knowledge to sell bespoke products to other companies, and selling products such as adhesives, medical supplies, and chemicals.
Product and process development is another popular area. Typically working within the manufacturing and production industry, these scientists work alongside research and development teams, and use their expertise to develop efficient processes for the manufacturing of quality products, ranging from foodstuffs to cosmetics.
