The Leigh Academy Home Academy Agreement
Respect - Resilience - Responsibility
Successful education is founded upon a partnership between the academy, students and parents. The Leigh
Academy is committed to raising and maintaining high standards in work, behaviour and attitude. In return all
students accepted by The Leigh Academy, and their parents, are expected to give a clear undertaking to meet the
standards required and to observe the standards, expectations and routines of The Leigh Academy.
The Leigh Academy agrees to provide for every student:
a broad, balanced education, maximising potential and encouraging high aspirations
provide a curriculum that meets the needs of your child’s well-being, mental health and academic needs
work which is appropriate to each child’s age and ability
enrichment activities and extra-curricular activities
a secure and well-disciplined environment (students in Years 7 – 11 are not allowed off site during the
academy day)
homework opportunities
regular reports and review
at least one parents’ consultation meeting each year
communicate between home and the academy through MCAS notices, newsletters, texts, emails, social
media and the academy website
information about progress, and prompt consultation, to discuss any difficulties which may arise
Covid-19 Specific:
an environment which has been risk assessed in response to the Covid-19 infection; this risk assessment
will be reviewed on a regular basis
contact parents/carers if your child is unwell
inform you if staff or another student in your child’s group tests positive for Covid-19 as this will mean
you will need to self-isolate for at least 10 days
continue to support online learning
As a Leigh Academy Student, I agree to:
treat all members of the academy community with understanding and respect
show respect for the academy environment and property
remain at The Leigh Academy, or in full-time education or training, until I am 18 if I meet the criteria
attend the academy regularly
be punctual at all times
remain on the academy site during academy hours
work hard and meet all course requirements
complete homework tasks on time
wear the full and correct academy uniform
arrive fully prepared and equipped for learning, including a stocked pencil case, fully charged Chromebook
and a bottle of water
keep The Leigh Academy standards and expectations and conduct myself in a responsible way, both in the
academy and when travelling to and from the academy
not bring in any tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs or offensive weapons as this will jeopardise my place
not maliciously interfere with academy equipment, including fire equipment and the fire alarm as this will
jeopardise my place
Covid-19 Specific:
follow all Covid-19 secure measures as per the DfE/PHE guidance at the time
follow good respiratory hygiene: coughing and sneezing into an elbow or tissue (catch-it, bin-it, kill-it)
follow good hand hygiene – washing my hands regularly using soap and water for 20 seconds and hand
sanitiser
behave well at all times to maintain the safety of myself and others
As Parent(s)/Carer(s) I/We agree to:
support and work with The Leigh Academy to encourage a positive attitude to education
ensure excellent attendance and punctuality and inform the academy each day of any absence.
avoid family holidays during academy term-time N.B. The Governors do not approve holidays during
term-time
make time to talk and listen to my child, discuss home learning, when appropriate, and give positive
support to efforts and progress my child has made
attend parents’ meetings and academy functions, in which my child is involved, and any special
appointments, as requested
let the academy know if there are any factors which may affect my child’s performance
support The Leigh Academy Rewards and Consequences policy, including sanctions such as after-school
detentions
keep my child in correct uniform at all times, including regulation shoes and PE kit
provide him/her with a well-stocked pencil case, a calculator and dictionary and any other equipment
needed at all times
pay for the replacement of any damaged, or lost books, or equipment
pay for the repair of any damage caused by my child
support my child in full-time education or training to 18 years of age
support the values of respect and tolerance promoted by The Leigh Academy
support the academy policy on maliciously interfering with academy equipment, including fire equipment
and the fire alarm
Covid-19 Specific:
check my child is not displaying symptoms of Covid-19 every day before my child attends the academy and
I will not let them attend if they have symptoms
if my child, anyone in my household, shows symptoms of Covid-19 then I will not send them into the
academy. We will self-isolate for 10 days as a family and I will get my child tested if they show symptoms,
and I will let the academy know the result as soon as possible
if my child shows symptoms of Covid-19 whilst at the academy, I will collect my child immediately
to communicate via telephone or email and only attend onsite via appointment
support all staff in their efforts to create an ‘as safe as possible’ environment
ensure that my child follows all Covid-19 secure measures as per the DfE/PHE guidance at the time
