Yes we have many sports teams at the Leigh Academy, the PE Team will run a trial evening where all year 7s are invited to participate and showboat their sporting talents.

Yes, there are many opportunities at The Leigh. Each subject has the opportunity to organise trips, recently we have visited Austria, France, Belgium and USA amongst many cities in the UK
Here at The Leigh Academy we have a Pastoral team within each college who can help support your emotional well being. This is one of the main responsibilities of the Student Services Manager who would be your first point of contact with this.
Yes, please do not worry about fitting in. There will be plenty of staff and students that will help you to settle in. You will be introduced to key members of staff that will be in your college, when you join us in September.
We do try to place you with a friend from your Primary school where possible, but you will get to know other students very quickly. You have to remember that there are 240 new Year 7 students that start in September and you will all have the same feelings of being nervous and making friends. We will help you with this by buddying you up with an older student to support you.
You will have a different teacher for each subject that you are taught, You will soon get to know those teachers and members of staff that you will see on a daily basis.
There are generally two Year 7 classes in each college and four colleges in the whole academy.

We do not tolerate bullying in any way shape or form, bullying carries a severe consequence, in line with our Anti Bullying Policy. We have our Leigh Academy anti bullying ambassadors that you will be introduced to when you start with us. We always encourage students to speak to someone if they feel they are being bullied or have any worries about this. You will be finding out more information when you start with us in September.
Yes, if you use a different colour paper to help with your school work and your Primary school informs us that this helps you then we will continue to support your learning. Our Special Educational Needs Department will support in any additional needs you might have.
It will depend on the teacher and the subject, but generally in Year 7 the most important thing that you can do to help with your learning is to read as much as possible.
If you have older brothers or sisters already at The Leigh Academy then you will be in the same college as them unless you specifically ask not to be.
You will have plenty of people to help you find your way around, Please do not worry about getting lost, Even teachers and students already at The Leigh Academy get lost at times!
On your first day you will meet all of the other Year 7 students who will be in your college with you and key members of staff. Due to the current situation with Covid 19 we are unable to give you a definite plan of your first day but the most important thing for us is that you are made to feel welcome and we can help you with any questions or concerns you may have.
You will get used to Secondary school very quickly and will soon build new relationships with your peers and staff.
We hope that we will be able to do more of a transition programme when you join us in September.

You will receive your Parent Pay login details via a letter that is sent out a couple of weeks into Module 1. In the mean time cash can be sent in with the students and top up their card manually. Once Parent Pay is setup up parents can top up students card's and keep track on their transactions virtually from a computer or phone app.
