Great News!
In the midst of a world filled with problems, God, the creator of the world has sent His Son to rescue us! I’m not sure about you, but with Covid and the strangest election of my lifetime, I was thankful to know that God is still in charge. Life didn’t stop by any means but all the normal events sure had a different feel.
There was sadness and joy this year for us with Becky’s dad Gary Arp passing away in March and my mom Vickie passing away in April. We were all able to attend Gary’s funeral as it was just as everything was changing. When mom passed away, we only had a graveside funeral with those who could attend. We thank the Lord for the terrific witness that both of them gave to us with their faith in Christ and assurance of the resurrection.
Anthony graduated in May from the University of Florida with a major in Computer Engineering. He is working part time in Gainesville while filling out a lot of online job applications looking for a programming position. We were glad to spend the day enjoying his graduation together with Isabel.
Natalie and AJ gave us terrific news in October that Natalie is pregnant! The baby is due in mid to late April so pray for a healthy pregnancy. We enjoy all the time we get to spend with them and are glad they could be in our bubble this year. :) Natalie is able to work from home (calculating pensions) and I get to see AJ every day with his work at St. Luke’s.
Jacob and Mallory continue to enjoy Austin TX. Jacob is helping teachers with tech this year along with his teaching duties. He also is helping out with the live broadcasting of their church services. Mallory is now youth director for a small church in Austin, doing freelance writing work, tutoring and taking classes at Texas State!
Becky is still enjoying work at Servpro and had several trips to Iowa this year to visit her parents. We were very thankful to celebrate our 35th anniversary with all of the kids. Even though we had several big plans cancelled, the week on the beach in Destin was terrific.
I (Steve) did start the year with a trip to Honduras in January. It was great to be back in La Paz with the kids at the Children of Love Foundation. And even in this strange year, I had trips to Cleveland Ohio (for my Uncle Leo’s funeral), Iowa, Bowling Green Ohio to fix up the house, St. Charles Louisiana for a week of hurricane cleanup with a chainsaw, and Texas to help install some new flooring. :)
In the end, we have all stayed healthy and employed. We thank the Lord every day for His blessings and pray that this year has brought more people to faith in our Savior Jesus. It’s so hard to see the struggles of those who have suffered this year. We pray that all those who are able will continue to be generous in helping others. In all of the unknown, we have been glad to have the ultimate hope, peace and joy that comes in faith. We are praying for all of you to have that same hope, peace and joy.
In Christ, Steve & Becky
