For the novel study, students will be required to have a new composition book in order to interact with the text. This novel will be more challenging, as the language will be more dated than the novel excerpts we have studied in Journeys. This journal ensures that they will be successful in following along and understanding the novel. This will not replace their literature notebook. Students will be required to bring both notebooks to class each day.
**Students will still be expected to number each page and keep a table of contents just like their literature notebook.**
Doubling as a reflection and reading journal, students will be expected to complete their daily bellwork in their composition books.
As we are reading, students will record
Any new characters and who they are
Setting: (time and place)
Plot: What is happening so far in the story
P.O.V.: What is the point of view and who is telling the story.
Students will be given anywhere from 5-10 study guide questions per chapter. These will help them recall information from the story and help them prepare for their comprehension tests.Â
