For the long term project in literature, I will conduct a novel study in quarter three. The novel we read is titled The Golden Goblet written by Eloise Jarvey McGraw. Students will be allowed to borrow a copy of the novel once we begin reading, however, I will always heavily encourage that students bring their own copy so that they can annotate in it. Most of the reading will take place in the classroom, however, I may require that students read a chapter at home from time to time.
In Mr. Saavedra's class, students will be writing a literary analysis over the novel. This assignment will be given after we finish the novel and students will have class time to complete it.
Students will be tested over this story every 1-3 chapters. These dates will be posted on the board with at least 2 days in advance and are subject to change.
**Since this is a novel study, students will only get to read the chapter ONCE before the test.**
Students will still have homework every Tuesday for Literature class.
**Please Note: Since this is a long term project, students may have homework on days other than Tuesday.**
Students will be receiving more frequent notebook checks during our novel study. This is to ensure that students are on task and are doing what they need to do to prepare for their upcoming tests.
-There will be an additional composition book students will need during the novel study. This will not be used for notes, instead, it will be used for chapter summaries, study guides, bellwork, and journal responses.

Students will be able to check out a copy of the novel if they cannot get their own copy. They will be responsible for this novel from the time they check it out to the time they check it in.
*If the novel is lost or damaged, students will be responsible for replacing the novel.
