Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to a new school year at Leesville Elementary. My name is Skyler Shaffer and I will be your student’s third grade teacher. I am looking forward to a great year! If you need to contact me for a question, comment, or concern, do not hesitate to send a note, call me at (660) 477-3406, or email me at sshaffer@leesville.k12.mo.us.
Below I have included information on what this year will look like at a glance.
In third grade I use an online program called Seesaw. There is also an app that can be downloaded on any smart phone called Seesaw Family. I will use the app to keep in touch with parents, send newsletters, special announcements, and to send school reminders. It is also a way to keep an electronic portfolio of your student’s work through photos or videos. I will try to post something once a week, but we can get busy learning!
** Students will bring home a sign-up page with a QR code on the first day of school. Please follow the instructions on this page to sign up for Seesaw!
A newsletter will be available every week to let you know what our focus is for the week. Newsletters will be sent through Seesaw, the Leesville Facebook page, and the Leesville website. It will have skills we are learning, spelling words, and any upcoming events or news. Please let me know if you are not seeing these! I DO NOT SEND A PAPER COPY HOME.
Each student will have a folder that they bring home every day in their backpack. The folder will have 2 pockets with different labels: Bring Right Back and Leave at Home. The Bring Right Back side means the papers, permission slip, homework, etc. needs to be brought back to the school as soon as possible. The Leave at Home side means the papers are for you and your child to keep. Please make sure that the papers are cleaned out of the Leave at Home side, so it does not get too full.
Each student will have a planner that they bring home every day in their backpack. If students have any homework, it will be written in their planner along with what we did in class that day. Students will be expected to write in their planner every day. Students will also use their planner as a hall pass during class.
All students need to be in a safe environment. Students will be expected to conduct themselves appropriately for school and safety. If a student misbehaves the consequences will be the following:
First Offense: Send a letter/note home
Second Offense: Call a parent
Third Offense: Lunch Detention
Fourth Offense: Send to the office/principal
