Lehigh Acres Middle School is the first public school in the state to be named an official affiliate of CrossFit. Not only does the school offer a class for seventh and eighth graders, but an after-school club is available for staff as well.
The program not only meets state physical education standards, but it follows the safety guidelines outlined by the CrossFit Kids program, which spans from pre-school aged children on up to high schoolers.
In addition to the one-hour class block, which has kids doing carefully monitored warm-ups, stretches, workouts and agility-style games under the watch of three staff members, the school has also launched an after-school workout club for its teachers.
