AVID is a schoolwide college-readiness system that works to influence the instruction, systems, leadership, and culture of the entire campus. AVID helps us raise student achievement while ensuring college access and success for all of our scholars.
AVID also helps us close the opportunity and expectation gaps that we are currently facing in the EAST Zone, so that our students can compete for the same college admissions as the other students in the different districts in LEE county.
In the AVID elective class, we focus on teaching the scholars the strategies needed to be successful in their rigorous classes. AVID defines rigor as using inquiry-based, collaborative strategies to challenge and engage students in content resulting in increasingly complex levels of understanding.
