The Lee Public Schools are making available Chromebooks to students in grades 4-12 who do not have access to a device at home. For families in grades 4-6, we can provide one shared Chromebook; for families in grades 7-12 we can provide one device per student. Please email devices@leepublicschools.net with the name of your student(s) and their grade levels, and we will get back to you to arrange pickup of the Chromebook. You'll need to complete the Chromebook User Agreement (below).
What if I don't have Wi-Fi at home?
If you live in a location serviced by Spectrum, they are offering two months of free internet with WiFi for households that have a K-12 or college student home. For information, please click here to go to the Spectrum site. Additionally, Spectrum is making its hotspots open to the public during this time; hotspot locations can be found by clicking here. Many of these are indoor hotspots located in businesses which are closed, but could be accessed from outside.

All students have Lee Public Schools email accounts in Google Gmail. For LES students, these are set to only work within the District. Parents are encouraged to monitor their children’s accounts, especially for our younger children. All email content is archived; this means that the District saves all the emails on its system.
Google Classroom
LPS teachers use Google Classroom as a secure learning network for teachers and students. It provides a safe way to connect, share content, access homework, participate in discussions, and receive class information. Teachers can link to videos and other media content within the Google Classroom.
Video Conferencing
There will be a small number of approved video conferencing apps that teachers may use to "virtually meet" with groups of students at the same time. Google Meet is one; Zoom is another. Staff will use these apps to ‘meet’ with individuals or groups. They can use this app for meetings, conferences, small and large group classes.
Meetings can be audio only, or include video.
A parent or caregiver should be in the room with young children.
Identify an appropriate place in your home where the ‘meeting’ can happen.
Don’t hesitate to speak to staff if you have questions.
Chat
Google Chat is a text-based messaging app that teachers can use for 1:1 or group chats. All conversations are archived by the District just as emails are.
