Exclaimation Point is a third-person fantasy shooter game. The main goal is to rid the town of enemies that have been taken over by a corruption.Â
In the actual gameplay, you find yourself in a small cosy village, however quickly realised an uncomfortable presence. Your worries are confirmed as corrupted creatures appear around you. Your task is to protect the village and its people. You can pick one of 3 characters, however another was in the works.
If it was to be created fully, it would be a multiplayer game, where you work as a team, able to select various characters of different classes, working to not only defeat the corrupted, but save/free them, and through a story-mode, find the cause of the corruption and destroy it.
Over time you would gather XP and level up, meeting stronger enemies, and being able to upgrade your weapons, armour, and abilities.
Limes - A fast-paced flanker. Once just a lump of slime, now almost a full being, after bein raised by a nearby village. She swore to protect them no matter what, especially now things are corrupted.
Axel - A strong tank, who fights alongside his cat. He was granted power by forest spirits, after devoting his life to caring for nature. Now he can protect it too.
Elaine - A magical support-based fighter. From the stars originally, she sways elegantly in while using her star-based powers.
Kira (WIP) - A powerful Mage. She lived most her life leeching off others as a bounty hunter. She temporarily settled down as a blacksmith, however quickly jumped back into battle when the corruption started.
Exclaimation Point was our Final Major Project (FMP) for our BTEC course, and as of the moment, our most recent game. It was built on overscoping, so myself and our other artist were never stuck for what to do. It also meant our 3D modeller, map designer, and programmer always had something to work with, and were never waiting on a piece of art.
Our overscoping did us well, as we knew we didn't have enough time to make a full fleshed out game, especially not to the standard we would like, however it meant smaller details could be fully smoothed out, and our game has a lot of potential if we decide to finish it. The lore and characters got very detailed so the basis of the game is there, it just needs working on.
We were nominated for several awards amongst university level students, and went to the Game Republic Showcase, where we networked with various people!
