The focus of the Coursework component is on performing various forms and types of Drama. You will complete an individual performance of a monologue extract from a published play amounting to not more than 3 minutes and will complete two group performances, each one amounting to not more than 20 minutes. One of the group performance will be an extract from a published play and the other group performance will be a group devised piece.
From the beginning of Form 4, the work completed in class will focus on teaching you the relevant acting techniques to develop your character from a script to bring them to life on the stage in a believable and convincing manner through the use of performance skills. Then, you will explore and discover various approaches by which you can approach devising original drama in a collaborative approach. By the end of Form 4, you will have learnt, applied and practised all the practical skills and techniques required for IGCSE Drama.
The focus of Form 5 will then be for you to apply your knowledge and understanding to create, rehearse and prepare your three final Coursework performances. This work will culminate in an evening of performances called the IGCSE Showings.
