The Agricultural Science and Technology Education (ASTE) program offers a dynamic journey through agricultural sciences, combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience. Central to our program is the “three-circle” model, which includes classroom learning, leadership development, and hands-on skill-building—key components for our students’ success.
Classroom & Laboratory Instruction: Freshmen start with an exploratory course covering various agricultural topics, including Animal Science, Natural Resources, Agricultural Mechanics, Tractor Driving, FFA, and Public Speaking. In their sophomore year, students continue their exploration, paired with an Agricultural Science lab for hands-on experience in applying concepts to real-world situations. As juniors and seniors, they can choose four specialized classes each year within their chosen concentration fields, creating personalized pathways that prepare them for successful careers in agriculture
FFA Leadership: Throughout their four years, students actively participate in the National FFA Organization (FFA), a leadership organization that promotes teamwork and community involvement. Members engage in FFA activities and compete in Career Development Events (CDEs) at local, state, and national levels, enhancing their educational experience and networking opportunities.
Supervised Agricultural Experience: A cornerstone of the ASTE program is the Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects, where students explore specific interests with the guidance of a supervisor. Whether it be managing livestock, creating floral arrangements, operating a landscaping business, working on restoration projects for agricultural equipment, or exploring natural resource management, these projects enable students to develop real-world skills that align with their passions across the five concentration areas.
