May

Mountain Biking

Five athletes represented NDSS at the 2023 School Mountain Bike Championships in Rossland. The Junior Boys finished 2nd in team points. Eli Rinald finished 4th overall. Alistair Day and Edgar McCarthy finished in the top 20.

Track & Field

The NDSS Track & Field Team competed at North Islands in Port Alberni and Island Meet.

April

Sr Girls Soccer

After playing hard through the rain and winds, our girls ended up winning 3/4 games, finishing in 3rd place in the 25th Annual Investors Group Challenge in Campbell River.
Lucia Enrich was awarded MVP for NDSS in the tournament.

Golf Team

Our golf team finished in first place at the NDSS Gold Invitational at the Cottonwood Golf Course. The team competed against Dover, Wellington and Ladysmith.

Islanders Gymnastics

Big things lately from NDSS gymnastics!

Results from Provincials, which tookplace March 9-11, 2023 in North Vancouver. The NDSS Team had huge successes!

Alice Doniol-Valcroze: 14th on Vault, Silver on Bars,Bronze on Beam, 10th on Floor, Silver Medal All Around

Pattyra Pomsinsub: 7th on Vault, 16th on Bars, 4th on Beam, Silver on Floor, Bronze Medal All

Celia Wood: 15th on Bars, 11th on Floor

NDSS came in Second Place in the Team competition forLevel 2s! Team members were: Alice, Pattyra, Celia,Mikayla and Julia.

Islanders Gymnastics

Our gymnastics team recently competed at the High School Girls Island Championship in Victoria. Our athletes showed stellar performances with all of them qualifying for Provincial Championships. Good luck to Kaidyn Sutherland, Alice Doniol-Valcroze, Pattyra Pomsinsub, Celia Wood, Mikayla Jankovic, Julia Barnard, Amber Simpson!!

Sr Boys Basketball

Shout out to our Sr Boys Basketball team who wrapped up their season tied for 5th place. They worked hard this season and their dedication and commitment did not go unnoticed!

Sr Girls Basketball

The Sr Girls Basketball Team beat Dover Bay on their home turf in the North Island final!! 

Sr Girls Basketball

The Sr Girls Basketball Team finished their season by placing forth at AAAA Islands and winning Most Sportsmanlike Team, which is  not usually awarded to teams in the top 4.  Shout out to Lydia Paris, Avery Henderson, Beth Kerridge and Hazuki Kido, all of which one Player of the game awards,  Avery Henderson also was selected as second team tournament All-star.

Thank you to Coaches Franjo, Aaron and Bryson and their commitment and dedication to the team.

Gr 8 Boys Basketball

The Grade 8 Boys Basketball team claimed the title of District Champions with a 17 point win on Barsby in the final. They played hard, with strong performances from Victor Bjornason and Ben Tomasson

Shout out to our graduating players from the Sr Boys Basketball team. Their hard work, commitment, drive and spirit has been outstanding throughout their sports careers here at NDSS!!

Gr 8 Boys Basketball

The Grade 8 Boys Basketball Team came in 1st in their tournament this past weekend, going 3-0. Both of our teams so far in the season have been undefeated!!

Handball

Mia Thomasson and Emma Kirk scored hat tricks to help their team, Ming Dynasty, take the W in handball!

Handball

2023 Handball Campions! The Ungenerics!! They defeated Ming Dynasty in an intense handball match in order to claim the title of Champion.

Sr Girls Volleyball

Our Sr. Girls Volleyball Team wrapped up their season as one of only four teams representing Vancouver Island at the AAAA Provincial Championships hosted by OKM in Kelowna. The team went 4-3 and placed in 10th place.
Huge thank you to the coaches, Orton, Elise, Sydney and Jake! Our graduating seniors were Grace Greene, Emma Kirk, Montana Stewart, Payton Lundine and Clara Parravinci.

Jr. Girls Volleyball

Congratulations to the Jr. Girls Volleyball Team on an amazing season!! They competed at provincials and went 3-3!!

Senior Boys Volleyball

As our Senior Boys wrap up their last tournament of the season, we have to comemerate our players this year.  Many of these athletes were first time-players and showed amazing qualities and development over the season. Thank you so much to all of our athletes this season and huge shout to the coaches.
Coach Brett, Coach Maddy and Coach Owen helped guide and make this an amazing season for our senior boys!

Senior Girls Volleyball

Our Sr. Girls Volleyball Team secured their silver medals in the AAAA Island Championships! They played hard for a total of 19 sets, with Payton and Emma both winning tournament all-star awards!

Junior Girls Volleyball

Our Junior Girls Volleyball team placed 3rd at Islands, which means they have qualified for Provincials! Great work and good luck girls!

Cross Country

Our Cross Country Athletes represented NDSS well with an incredible performance at Provincials!

 Our Junior Girls were named Provincial Champions and bringing us home a banner!

Grade 8 Boys Volleyball

Congratulations to our Grade 8 Boys Volleyball team. Their hard work and commitment to the team landed them as District Champions!!

Grade 8 Girls Volleyball

Shout out to the amazing job our Grade 8 Girls did in the final District Tournament, with Team green placing 2nd, Team White placing 6th and Team Black placing 8th.
The girls showed incredible improvement and positive attitudes throughout the entire season.

Jr. Girls Volleyball

Our Junior Girls Volleyball team has been able to put themselves in 1st place for the North Island Championship for the second year in a row. We are ecstatic over the hard work and dedication our players have put in!!

Sr. Boys Football

Shout out to our NDSS Senior Boys Varsity Football team for an amazing season this year! Big thanks to the coaches,
Coach Stevenson, Coach Mack, Coach Dan and Coach Cole. We appreciate the commitment that you put towards this team. 

Our graduating players this year are Brody Gray, Owen Burrows, Liam Baker, Cole Prontack, Shae Robert Sparks, Jacob Lofstrom, Nate Campbell, Quinn Monahan, Miko Dominelli, Connor Jackson and Khoen Bell.

October

Sr. Boys Football

During the first weekend of October, NDSS' Islanders Football took home their first win of the season in a game against Okanagan Mission Secondary. The final score was
7 - 14! Way to go Islanders!

Sr. Girls Volleyball

Our Sr Girls Volleyball team competed at the VIU Invitational Tournament at the beginning of October. They placed in the top 4 out of 24 teams, and team captain Grace Greene got a tournament All-Star award.

Cross Country

Our Cross Country Athletes competed at Islands on October 20th in Port Alberni. The teams that qualified for provincials were
Jr. Girls in 1st place
Jr. Boys in 2nd place
Sr. Boys in 2nd place

Sr. Boys Football

During the 22nd-23rd weekend of October the Senior Boys Football team went up against Hansworth. It was a overall 18-24 loss in overtime. The boys played hard and we wish them luck on their games in Mission, BC on the 29/30th!!

Jr. Boys Soccer

As the season comes to an end, we have to congratulate our Junior Boys Soccer team on their great season.

Special thanks to Mr. Myhrer who has been an amazing coach and teacher in SD68 for his entire career.
He has made a huge difference for thousands with his guidance and commitment to his students and players.

Swim Team

The NDSS Swim Team competed in an Island Meet, which was hosted at the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre. The athletes demonstrated strong team and individual performances, with many in top 5 and qualifying for provincials.

As the Volleyball teams wrap up the season, our Grade 9 Girls team placed 4th in the district. We are so proud of this spectacular team and wish to extend a thank you to Sydney, Nicole and Erin, who coached this team for an amazing seaoson!
