It is important to remember that even though we are supposed to be ‘physically distancing’ we should still be engaging socially as it’s an important part of who we are and contributes positively to our mental/physical health. We need to practice social connectedness while still being physically distant.
Physical distancing is a way that we can slow the spread of COVID-19 by limiting close contact with others. Even if you are not sick, you should still keep about two meters (six feet) distance when outside our homes.
To build your social connections, you could:
Do any of your weekly academics, physical and mental health, or creative activities with someone in your household or online with a friend
Listen to the same podcast
Get a workout buddy
Do a virtual tour together
Read the same book
Write a comic, screenplay, or song together
Cook and eat meals with your family (or schedule a FaceTime meal with a friend)
Play games with people in your house
Play an online game with friends (or use one of the suggestions from this Spreadsheet for some unique board games alternatives) while talking on the phone
Read a book aloud as a family or all read the same novel separately and talk about the story
Help a sibling with their academics and creative tasks
FaceTime or call a relative, friend, or Take a Hike staff member
Write an email to someone
Do chores around the house together
Watch a movie or documentary together
