Hey students and families! First of all thanks for checking out the website. It is our hope that this can offer some learning opportunities, and provide some support in these unusual times! At this time we do not know how long we will be out of the classroom, but we are eager to provide families with as much support as we can.

We want to acknowledge that common roles and routines have undergone a tremendous amount of change in the past few weeks.

If students, parents, or guardians are in need of support and communication, do not hesitate to call or text the classroom phone. A staff member will be in touch as soon as we are able.

Hopes and Expectations

Before moving into academic expectations, we want to reaffirm that your health, safety, and home life are our number one priority. We hope that the program we have designed will help to establish and reinforce positive home routines.

Students will be expected to engage with each of the four learning categories for an hour of each school day. Each day I will post a suggested schedule, however, you are free to choose your own shape of the day. We want you to have fun learning. We are providing you with a lot of resources, and that can be overwhelming, we understand this, we want to make it as user friendly as possible. Please ask if you are confused and someone will help you through this. We have also set up numerous google classrooms, if you would like to be invited to a classroom, please let your cohort teacher know.

Academics - Choose MINIMUM of ONE google classroom- Check your gmail (@learn68.ca school account) for an invitation

Physical and Mental Health

Social Connections - daily check-in Monday, Wednesday and Friday students will check in (over the phone or social media), Tuesday and Thursday check in will be over text. These check-ins are for creating daily goals and working towards academics. IF YOU WANT TO COMPLETE YOUR ACADEMICS YOU NEED TO CHECK IN DAILY.

Creativity

Many times students can complete more than one category at a time (example: going for a walk while listening to a podcast or talking on the phone to a friend, better yet discussing the book they are reading =) Staff will continue to add resources to the list to help students meet this goal.

LEARNING LOG

Students are required to fill out a daily log of what they are doing in each category. These logs will be submitted to BREIGH every Friday (they can be done online, photographed and emailed or done as a voice recording). If you need additional resources to complete these logs please let staff know and we will do what we can to assist you. We understand that students may be helping take care of siblings, or there are limitations with wifi, devices, or other supports. If any of this seems unattainable for your current situation, please reach out as we are happy to accommodate and provide alternatives.

As for those students who were set to graduate, all students that engage with the described learning will pass their classes. If students do not engage with the learning, then other avenues will need to be explored.
