When I first joined the learning community in grade four I felt excited but at the same time scared and self-conscious. I was not confident at all and I thought I wasn't gonna fit in and be that one kid who wouldn’t be included and welcomed. I feel like I sort of became more welcomed later and then I became the one welcoming other people. Like for example, I wasn't always invited to play bump because I had no friends who trusted me but now I invite others because I know what it’s like.

In the community I felt the most comfortable in the Zen Den because it was a calming place I could go when I was frustrated or when I needed to feel happy again. It was quiet and darker and I work better in a darkish space because when places are dark it helps calm my mood and I can focus a lot better. The Design Lab was a place where I enjoyed building lots of things and I also felt challenged there. It might sound weird but I felt more enthusiastic there and was able to express myself and my interests. Building things really helps me calm me down. As for the other rooms in the community the Mathlenium Falcon is my least favourite room because I don’t feel strong in that room and it doesn’t have the energy. Obviously the Living Room and the Book Nook I like a lot because of the windows and the flexible seating.
