A student needs an IEP if they need course modifications or individualized programming. The designation of a student determines their support.
To me it has shown the growth in our system and that equity moves beyond "fair is not the same to everyone" to "fair is equal opportunity for everyone".
Students can be their best advocates. Through including them in creating and reviewing their own IEP's, it can create an investment from both the student and staff. See below for resources to help in leading student-led IEP's.
