How do students get involved?
KLO students at every grade level have the opportunity to work in and experience the KLO Modular Farm. The goal of the farm is to grow safe and healthy food and learn about sustainability. Students get hands-on, experiential learning of how food is produced, where it comes from, and the economic, social, and environmental impacts of our food system.
Where does the food go?
Produce grown in the Modular Farm is used in our foods classes and meal programs. Extra produce is sold as staff hampers and at Peter's Independent Grocer as a fundraiser. All money raised comes back to KLO meal programs to provide free, healthy, food to all students at Ecole KLO Middle School.
What are the benefits of the farm to the community?
Ecole KLO Middle School has fostered many community relationships through the Modular Farm. We invite any schools or community organizations interested in the farm to reach out for more information or a tour.
