This is a written exam with 2 parts and counts for 45% of your AP Score. This is a timed exam (2 hours) you will sit for on May 7, 2024. The exam consists of 2 parts.
part A comprises 30% of the 45% of your total score
You will be asked to analyze an argument using evidence:
Identify the author's argument, main idea, or thesis.
Explain the author's line of reasoning by identifying the claims used to build the argument and the connections between them.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the evidence the author uses to support the claims made in the argument.
part B comprises 70% of the 45% of your total score
You will be provided with 4 sources to analyze and consider. You will be asked to build your own argument using at least TWO of the four provided sources. Each of the four sources will explore a common theme through different lens, allowing multiple entry points from which to approach the topic.
DIRECTIONS: After reading the four sources carefully, focus on a theme or issue that connects them and the different perspectives each represents. Then, write a logically organized, well-reasoned, and well-written argument that presents your own perspective on the theme or issue you identified. You must incorporate at least TWO of the sources provided and link the claims in your argument to supporting evidence. You much cite your sources using either the author's name or the source letter (ex. Source A).
