We have had the incredible privilege to learn alongside educators and students from Kindergarten to 99 years old. Through this years' long journey, we have been nourished with the experience of witnessing how pedagogies of agency align wholly with learners, regardless of their grade, age, and previous experiences with learning.
We recognize the importance of creating these types of learning environments at the secondary school level. Learners grow in the best possible ways when they are supported through joyful, play-based, inquiry-based learning opportunities that they lead with their heads, their hearts, and their hands. It is within that integrity that we believe the learning spirit may continue to thrive and to sustain.
We are not preparing our students for the 'next thing,' we are preparing them to grow from where they are right now.
The learning spirit doesn't know grades, merit, comparisons, or competition. It delights in the unique ways of the individual who is supported in all of their gifts and wholeness. We thank our students for teaching us this again and again.
Our goal is for all of the students in this class to be able to answer "I CAN!" to each of these statements.
In this course, we strive to create a variety of learning opportunities to facilitate our students learning more about who they are, what they care about and value, and how they can make a positive impact for their futures, the community, and/or this beautiful syilx land.
