Education
Our mission is to enhance a student’s confidence and self-esteem by combining athletics and academics to maximize their potential both on and off the ice.
The Advanced Skills Program is open to players and prospects of the Okanagan Rockets that are enrolled in the Central Okanagan Public School District (secondary schools).
*NEW for 2024/25 School Year*
Academics
Students will be able to remain at their catchment school for their core courses and will meet at MNP Place for their on-ice classes. In order to allow students flexibility with their schedule during their on-ice days they may have the option to be enrolled in a couple asynchronous courses (not grade 9).
In order to allow participants to meet a greater variety of academic pathways, we will be tying all Hockey Academy courses to the secondary school timetable. This will allow students to take more academic courses and/or electives on the same day as they have Hockey Academy. They can take classes at their home school and/or possibly cross enroll at OKM.
GRADE 9 students at OKM will be scheduled in the opposite periods/blocks on Hockey Academy days. For Grade 9 students coming from other schools, we can likely enroll them in electives at OKM, or they can return to their home school for other classes.
GRADE 10-12 students in the ASP Skills Academy will have the option to take other classes at their home school, or if there is room in courses, they can enroll in classes at OKM. Asynchronous Strength & Conditioning classes will be an option for these students.
