Today in class we found the area of a rectangular index card.  We then used scissors to make a cut from corner to the opposite corner creating two congruent triangles. We found that the area of a triangle is half the area of the parallelogram that we originally started with.  So therefore the Area of a triangle:  A=1/2bh.

Be sure to wear sneakers or weather boots and to dress warmly  as we will be touring a mine and outside for a good portion of the day.  


The cell phone policy for class trips is the same for when students are in school.  It is expected that cell phones remain off and away for the entire day.
